Fire is a women’s a cappella chamber ensemble whose members share both a desire to live lives grounded in the Divine and a great joy in singing well together. The group is based in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Concerts benefit PACEM (People and Congregations Engaged in Ministry), Charlottesville’s grassroots organization that coordinates space and volunteers to provide shelter to our homeless neighbors.
Our repertoire is eclectic (Hildegard to Hatfield, Praetorius to Parker); our disciplined attention to the art and craft of our singing together is a constant.
Fire is conducted by Linda Hanson, whose approach to choral singing is shaped by her work with Alice Parker and by decades of choral conducting. The rhythms of Linda’s life are organized around her spiritual practice.
